Ten students are the first graduates of the 2022 91福利 Evening LPN (Practical Nursing) to ADN (Associate Degree of Nursing) Bridge program at the Forrest County Campus.
They received pins and certificates on Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Lowery Woodall Advanced Technology Center.
鈥�91福利 is committed to meeting the needs of healthcare in our community,鈥� said Dr. Jana Causey, Vice President for Forrest County Campus, Allied Health, and Nursing Programs. 鈥淭here is a critical need for nurses, and we are doing all we can to provide the most qualified healthcare professionals to meet this need.鈥�
The ceremony was a time of celebration for all while recognizing the hard work each of the students put in during the past year. Bridge is a three-semester program. The second class begins later this month at the Forrest County Campus.
Graduates were greeted by Dr. Causey, Dr. Arlene Jones, PRCC鈥檚 Director of Nursing Education; and David Hogan, president of the Forrest County Board of Supervisors. The supervisors helped provide seed money to begin the program, which also received assistance from Forrest Health.
鈥淵ou are very-much needed in our community,鈥� said Hogan. 鈥淵ou will be blessed for making this decision. You have elevated your game up to be registered nurses. This is a very rewarding decision you have made.鈥�
Dr. Causey said this inaugural class of ADN nurses at the Forrest County Campus faced challenges from the beginning.
鈥淲e have very-much needed this program to help meet the nursing shortage in the Pine Belt area,鈥� she said. 鈥淲e struggled to get things into place during all the Covid problems. I thank you for being diligent to become a part of this program.鈥�
