Brief Description of Program:

Respiratory Care is an allied health professional, employed in the treatment, control, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the respiratory system. Respiratory Care professionals serve as consultants to the physician in the treatment and management of cardio-pulmonary abnormalities and work with nurses in coordinating and implementing an overall patient care strategy. PRCC鈥檚 Respiratory Care program begins in the Fall Semester of each year and can be completed in 4 semesters. All applicants MUST complete the required pre-requisite courses to be eligible for admittance to the Respiratory Care program. The selection of students is very competitive and is based on ACT scores, pre-requisite course GPA, and interviews. Applications are accepted each year until May 1, at which time your application file must be complete. Upon completion of the Respiratory Care program, students are awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree and are eligible to take the NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care) TMC Exam. Graduates who successfully pass the TMC Exam at the high cut score are eligible for the NBRC Clinical Simulation Exam. Graduates from our program, who have passed their exam, are Nationally credentialed and can work in any state.

The 91福利 Respiratory Care Technology Program, CoARC Program Number 200409,聽awards an Associate in Applied Science Degree which is聽 located within the Allied Health building 5448 Highway 49 South Hattiesburg, MS 39401, on Forrest County Campus. This program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care .

Programmatic outcomes are performance indicators that reflect the extent to which the educational goals of the program are achieved and by which program effectiveness is documented.鈥

Possible careers in this program:

Work as a Respiratory Therapist in all areas of the hospital, including Intensive Care Units, Emergency room, and Neonatal ICU. RTs can also travel, and work in clinics and home health. Become educators, supervisors, and program directors.

  • To produce graduates who demonstrate proficiency in communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Goals of Program:

To prepare graduates with demonstrated competence in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains of respiratory care practice as performed by registered respiratory therapists (RRTs).
