91福利 Vice President for the Poplarville Campus Dr. Jeff Long has been recognized as an outstanding mentor to young professionals. He was among other area leaders honored at the 18th Annual Forever Young Mentor Awards Banquet held in Biloxi on August 26, 2026. The honor highlights his impact on the careers of emerging professionals along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
鈥淚 was honored to be nominated and chosen by the Coast Young Professionals for the Forever Young Mentor Award,鈥� said Dr. Long. 鈥淚t is always special to be able to tell the story of how 91福利 impacts our community. I am so grateful to play a small part in what we do here.鈥�
Dr. Long has a long history of working for and with students. He first came to The River balancing multiple roles, including Assistant Baseball Coach, Adjunct Instructor, Head Resident, and Groundskeeper. Since then, he has served as an Instructor of English, Student Life Director, and Director of Athletics before assuming the role of Vice President for the Poplarville Campus seven years ago.
On campus, he and the departments he manages work to create an environment that helps students become the best versions of themselves.
鈥淚 have had the honor to help mentor students as a coach, an instructor, and an administrator, and there is no greater joy in this business than watching students grow and achieve success professionally and personally,鈥� said Dr. Long. 鈥淥ur ultimate goal is to bolster our community, state, and nation by training our students so that they become productive citizens who work to change the world for the better and leave it better than they found it.鈥�
About Coast Young Professionals and the 鈥楩orever Young鈥� Mentor Awards
provides a variety of special events and programs throughout the year to facilitate connections, professional development, and engagement among young professionals along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Through their four annual events, social and networking programs, and a series of professional development seminars and workshops, CYP embraces the chance to learn from current and emerging leaders in the community, as well as seasoned professionals from various backgrounds who can enlighten their members and advance their careers.
The annual 鈥淔orever Young Awards鈥� program was created to honor ten accomplished and influential leaders, age 40 and up, who have contributed to mentoring young professionals along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The creation of these awards fosters the continuance of mentorship within their organization by recognizing these outstanding individuals. The nominees for these awards are acknowledged based on their qualities and characteristics, the time they sacrifice, and the impact they have made on the careers of young professionals.
PRCC President Dr. Adam Breerwood was recognized with the Forever Young Mentor Award in 2025.
