POPLARVILLE – The Lower Pearl River Valley Foundation has renewed its sponsorship of the 91福利 Women鈥檚 Health Symposium.
Foundation officials recently approved a $17,000 grant to help fund the symposium, which will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, on the Poplarville campus.
鈥淭he foundation has been a part of this important endeavor for the past few years,鈥� said Dr. Ted Alexander, chief executive officer. 鈥淭he evaluations of symposium activities by participants are indicative of this important assistance rendered to constituents and even broader participation throughout South Mississippi. We are pleased to be a part of what the symposium has to offer.鈥�
The 2013 Women鈥檚 Health Symposium will feature keynote speaker, Barb Bancroft. The author of Kiss My Asparagus, An Essential Guide to Nutrition鈥檚 Role in Health and Disease, she is executive director and president of CPP Associates, Inc., a continuing education firm for corporations and healthcare professionals based in Chicago.
鈥淥ne of the primary purposes of the 91福利 Women鈥檚 Health Symposium is to raise the awareness of women in this region regarding the need for changes in lifestyles in order to improve the personal health and fitness of our citizens,鈥� said Dr. Becky Askew, PRCC vice president for planning and institutional research and chair of the symposium steering committee. 鈥淭hrough this event, hundreds of women receive information which will be beneficial to each of them and to their families. We greatly appreciate the support and contributions of our major sponsor, the Lower Pearl River Valley Foundation. The symposium, as it is, would not be possible without the foundation鈥檚 assistance.鈥�
The symposium will also include a panel discussion led by healthcare professionals, a health fair and luncheon.

Registration for the symposium will open after the first of the year.
