Scheduling a Proctored Exam

Online students are responsible for clicking the Proctoring button in their online course to schedule a proctored exam.  This should be done as early in the semester as possible to ensure a date/time that works best for the student’s schedule.
Most online courses require between 1-3 proctored exams, and exam dates are posted in each course. For instructions about how to use SmarterProctoring, please view the resources below.

Proctoring Options

In-State Proctoring

If you live in Mississippi, you must take your proctored exam(s) at any community college in Mississippi. Click Proctoring to make an appointment at a PRCC Proctor Center or any community college in Mississippi. If you don’t see a proctoring center near you, make sure your address is correct under the Settings in Proctoring.

You must schedule at least 24 hours in advance; however, our office recommends that you schedule early in the semester to ensure the date/time/location works best for your schedule.

There is no charge for using PRCC or any other Mississippi Community College’s proctoring centers.

Out-of-State Proctoring

Off-Campus Proctor Request

If you live outside of Mississippi, you can test at your local college or university.  The cost of this proctoring is determined by that institution, and the student is responsible for whatever those charges might be. Fill out the following form (proctor fills out the top portion/student fills out the bottom portion).  The completed form can be emailed to elearning@prcc.edu, along with a copy of the proctor’s school-issued picture ID card.  Allow 24-48 hours for approval.  Once the request is approved/denied, eLearning will e-mail both the student and the proctor.  Off-Campus Proctor Request

Virtual Proctoring

To use PRCC’s virtual proctoring service, click Proctoring in your online class and choose “Virtual Session” to make an appointment. You must schedule at least 24 hours in advance. Charges will be applied to your PRCC student account for each appointment you make.

Students will be charged $40 per appointment for using PRCC’s virtual proctoring service. If the student makes an appointment and does not show up for their appointment, they will be charged a $40 no-show fee.

Appointment Time

What to Expect

Whether arriving at a proctoring center or using the virtual proctoring service, students must have a government-issued ID that includes their full name and picture. The name on the ID must match the name in the college systems. Students must also know their password to Canvas in order to access their proctored exam.

Students who have accommodations through Disability Services must follow the instructions on the accommodation letter to ensure that accommodations are provided during their appointment time. We expect students to arrive on time for their proctoring appointment. Students can arrive a little early for their appointment, but should not arrive late. If students arrive late for their appointment, they may not be able to complete their exam.

Students using the PRCC Virtual Proctoring service will join the virtual proctoring session by accessing the Proctoring page in their online class and will click ‘Start Session’ to begin the onboarding process.
